Hello! I'm Shane.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If it was interesting and you would like to talk about it, or talk about TTRPGs, Star Wars, high fantasy, or would like a random fun fact, please reach out! Notifications are always on for my school email, pstaylor@umich.edu.

I'm not quite sure how to do an "about the author." What is most important to tell you? As my classmates, friends, and partner have all come to learn, I think too much. Worse still, my mouth is connected to my brain. Worse even than this, my brain is connected to my fingers which are rarely out of reach of a keyboard. This has been the case for many years. Honestly, their patience is astounding. Oh also, I like the color yellow; I'm colorblind, so this website being in black and white was no accident.

For information relevant to this project, this was my first experience writing a play, and when writing short stories and flash fiction (which I have much more experience with) I rely heavily on body language to communicate personalities, so a script-where you are supposed to leave things like body language up to the actors and director-was a challenge. Please check out the top section of "Putting This On"; I'm curious if the characters' personas come across in the text how I imagined them.

From here... I refer you to "The Death of the Author," by Roland Barthes. It doesn't matter who I am or what I think. I disagree with the argument he puts forth for the implications on analysis, but taking the burden off of authors to be "author-gods" who can offer "a clear, intended, theological interpretation" is freeing. Take the text, and understand there is nothing beyond it. Godspeed, and may your creativity carry you gently into untold wonders.
